Transylvania Shop and Coffee
462 Victoria Rd, Govanhill, Glasgow G42 8YU
A Romanian deli and sweet shop on Victoria Road that earns its character score without hesitation. Bright shelves of Eastern European produce, imported sweets, drinks and bakes that make it worth stepping in whether you want coffee or not.
The flat white is harder to defend. It arrives too large and far too hot, with very little froth and an espresso that lacks depth and sits with a slight bitter edge. At £3 it is okay value for what you get, but this is less a flat white than a large, very hot coffee with milk.
The shop itself is the reason to visit. The coffee is a bonus, not the point.
